Converse is giving you the chance to tell your story in Fashion Journal in celebration of International Women’s Day

We want you.
Do you have something important to say? We’re listening.
In partnership with Converse, in celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD) we’ll be rounding up four of our wonderful Fashion Journal readers and giving them our platform to share their story.
In honour of IWD, Converse has released its My Story collection designed by the women of Converse. Inspired by fearless, bold and independent women, the My Story collection is a female-first take on the classic Chucks. With its unapologetic and unique designs, Converse helps give you the words and colours to tell your own story.
We’re wanting to hear honest stories from your life about times you’ve faced adversity or overcome gender-related obstacles.
Tell us how you’re breaking down the barriers of binary gender, what it’s like navigating a male-dominated workplace or how you’re redefining what gender means to you. Whether that’s your experience playing sport, your journey to body acceptance or your gender-imbalanced STEM studies, we want to hear it.
As inspiration, take a look at the strides two members of the Converse All Stars team are making. Read how Jara Segal, a self-taught Melbourne-based artist, uses her work to unpack trauma and celebrate femininity. And how Wintana Kidane, an African Australian presenter, podcaster and event curator, uses her space to interrogate the relationship between culture and identity.
To shoot your shot, send through a piece of writing between 700 to 1000 words to producer@furstmedia.com.au by 11.59pm AEDT, Sunday March 14. Include a little bio about yourself and a link to your Instagram too. The chosen four writers will be compensated for their articles and will also receive a pair of these Converse kicks to style and shoot (and keep) to accompany their pieces.
