FB, IG or O.B.E.?

Commoners unite, you could be paid £50,000 (roughly $97,000) to post the Queen’s Instagram Stories.

An ad for Head of Digital Engagement at Buckingham Palace was posted to LinkedIn on Friday, with over 200 applications already received through the site.

“It’s knowing your content will be viewed by millions,” reads the listing. “Whether you’re covering a State Visit, award ceremony or Royal engagement, you’ll make sure our digital channels consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences.”

The successful applicant will have experience managing digital communications for a high profile organisation and will be responsible for leading digital strategy for the Royal Household.

It’s unclear whether the job is an addition to the existing Royal Communications team or has been posted to fill a vacancy.

What is clear is that the listing comes just weeks after Prince Andrew gave a disastrous BBC interview on his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which threw the monarchy into intense international scrutiny.

Maybe Her Majesty watched the third season of The Crown and realised that with Margaret Thatcher, Princess Diana and the increased fervour of the IRA due to crop up next season, she should probably arm herself for Internet battle.
