Spring has sprung, Virgo season is in full swing and (according to TikTok), everybody is ‘locking in’ for September. Whether you’re drilling down on your wellness routine or just excited to see some sunshine, there’s no shortage of exciting events happening in Melbourne and Sydney this month.

Tsu Lange Yor Sage’s Rose at Slowpoke Lounge and Lookout
From now until Sunday, September 21, Slowpoke Lounge and Lookout in Collingwood are doing a limited Sage’s Rose cocktail (gin, cherry liqueur and muddled raspberries – yes please). With it, you’ll receive a complimentary vial of Sage’s Rose eu de pardon, the new fragrance from Tsu Lange Yor named after Troye Sivan’s sister.

Libby Haines ‘Sore Eye’ Exhibition
You’ve got until Sunday, September 14 to check out the ‘Sore Eye’ exhibition by Libby Haines, a Melbourne-based still life artist known for her textural oil paintings full of life. Held in Collingwood, the exhibition will feature 18 new pieces drawn from intimate scenes from Haines’ life, that for the artist, are a sight for sore eyes. Expect gestural brushstrokes, warm moody tones, and a playful spirit throughout the exhibition, conveyed in a tone that is distinctly Haines.

‘Gore Street, Fitzroy’ Documentary Screening
On Friday September 19, Australian filmmaker Zoe Coldham is hosting the second screening of ‘Gore Street, Fitzroy,’ a historical documentary tracing the history of Fitzroy, the oldest suburb in Melbourne. Through a series of interviews, Zoe captures the essence of Gore Street and reflects on a community that has transformed through waves of gentrification. The screening will be help at The Fitzroy Town Hall Ballroom from 6.30pm to 8pm, followed by drinks at The Napier Hotel.

Arms of Eve store launch
On Saturday, September 20, Australian jewellery label Arms of Eve is opening the doors to a new boutique on High Street, Armadale. They’ll be celebrating the launch with an in-store event from 9.30am, offering customers 20 per cent off to shop, smoothies from Green Cup and tote bag giveways for the first 20 through the door.

NGV Design Studio ‘Making Good: Redesigning the Everyday’
A new exhibit from NGV Design Studio is open daily throughout September at The Ian Potter Centre. ‘Making Good: Redesigning the Everyday’ explores how designers across health, fashion and furniture, food and construction are reshaping the products and systems that shape our daily lives. Expect to see 3D printed chairs made from old refrigerators, clothing that adapts as you grow, concrete made from coffee grounds, air-purifying paints and much more.

Frank Green Sydney ‘Rhythm Refill’
On Saturday, September 13, Australian brand Frank Green, is hosting the second edition of its ‘Soft Clubbing’ series. This time, ‘Rhythm Refill’ takes over Sydney’s iconic Bondi Icebergs. From 9am to 11am, you can bring a friend and soak in the ocean views while enjoying ice-cold coffee and matcha, exclusive reusable cups, and a live DJ set from DJ Willo.

The Big Design Market
On Friday, September 19 to Sunday 21, Sydney’s Carriageworks will house over 230 exhibitors at The Big Design Market, with everything from homewares, fashion and jewellery, to books, art prints and stationery. The market also boasts The Big Food Hall, where you’ll be spoilt for choice with food, drinks, coffee and desserts. There’ll also be immersive and interactive art installations for your inner child.

Chinatown Country Club Sydney Designer Archive Pop-up
From Friday, September 26 to Sunday 28, Chinatown Country Club, the independent Sydney-based fashion concept, is hosting another designer archive pop-up. For three days only, explore rare pieces curated by Melbourne’s LooMos Studio and Sozo Amour alongside Chinatown Country Club’s own selection of archival treasures from Maison Margiela, Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, Loewe and more.

Powerhouse Museum ‘Future Fashion’ Exhibition
If you haven’t yet checked out the Future Fashion exhibition at Powerhouse Museum in Castle Hill, make sure you get there this month. Expect a showcase of bold, forward-thinking work by graduating fashion and textiles students from four Sydney institutions. This year’s exhibition draws on a wide range of influences including Persian heritage, Minnan architecture, a family auto-repair workshop, medical technology, corsetry, Surrealism and sustainable design.
