Sipping bubbly, feeling lovely.

There is always a reason to celebrate. I’m not just talking about the usual birthday or anniversary shindigs, but the small reasons to celebrate – maybe it’s getting through a tough work week or being at home to receive a much-anticipated parcel.

My most recent reason to celebrate was finding the perfect outfit for an event on the weekend. Rather than letting the joy of the moment slip by and become swallowed by life’s stresses, I took my own advice and celebrated. Had I been more organised, I would have made a toast with Croser‘s latest non-vintage sparkling, created in collaboration with 78 Degrees.

Featuring botanicals of juniper, orange, clove and nutmeg (to name a few), it’s the perfect refreshing drink of choice as we head into warmer weekends sparkling wine (there’s nothing like a quality sparkling when you’re feeling celebratory). Using our daily successes to prime us for celebration is something I’m always on board with so if this push for weekly celebrations prompts an eye roll for being excessive, then hear me out.

Celebrating the good in your life (otherwise known as expressing gratitude) is proven to increase positive emotions, and we could always do with more of them. With this in mind, 12 Fashion Journal readers have shared their reasons to celebrate this week.

This week has been especially hard for me but I’m grateful that I survived and overcame the mental challenges. I must give credit to my friends for all their endless support. I will celebrate my amazing friendships by spending uninterrupted quality time together. Of course, a nice bottle of wine and a cheese board will be involved and I might even get dressed in a killer outfit. Nothing like dopamine dressing and drinks to kickstart the weekend.

Although my husband is away, I am celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary! A huge milestone I am grateful to have reached. Every year our anniversary makes me reflect on the beautiful life we created together and our three amazing children.

Luckily, I won’t be alone and will spend this weekend with my two daughters, celebrating with shopping, drinks and soaking up the cultural scene of Melbourne. It’s rare to have my children in the same state, so this week is really important to me. Cherishing my time with family is always at the forefront of my mind and there’s no other city like Melbourne to do it in.

I love the idea of celebrating the small things in the same way as the big moments in life. This week hasn’t been too eventful for me but when I think about it, there’s been more than one occasion worth giving a toast to. One of them is my puppy graduating from puppy school! I know it’s not a particularly big achievement but if you saw how she behaved before you would be so impressed with her improvements. So, here’s to my lovely furry friend and no more chewed shoes.

After a few years together this week, my partner and I will be signing a lease together. This step in our relationship is something I will definitely be celebrating. The plan is a beach picnic and some drinks. I’m excited to try Croser, a sparkling wine my friend recommended to me. Good bubblies always get me in a celebratory mood.

This weekend I am celebrating Thanksgiving. As a recent Melbourne transplant, I was sad to find out this holiday isn’t a thing here. I always loved getting together with my family, eating turkey with cranberry sauce, and sharing the things we are grateful for over some nice wine. So wholesome! Thankfully I have some Canadian roommates, so we’re keeping the tradition going. My dinner plan, not quite as elaborate as my mum’s, is a rotisserie chicken and some veggies. But the spirit is the same!

This weekend I’m celebrating my final week of university by going and getting my hair cut, coloured and getting curtain bangs. I’ve been dreaming of changing up my hair and it’s the perfect opportunity to unwind before the stressful week ahead!

Matthew*, 32, he/him

A huge thing for me this week has been finally getting a promotion I’ve been working for! There’s no better feeling than having your efforts and achievements recognised, so I will be embracing this victory by having some drinks with my colleagues. My boss likes to take any opportunity to crack open bubbles so I know this celebration will be no different.

There’s always lots to celebrate but this week it will be the return of my sister to town. She’s such a special part of my life and I’ve missed her so much while she’s been away. We’ll be going out for some drinks while she’s visiting to truly soak up every moment we have together. I’ll also be revelling in the return of warmer weather. Sunset drinks on a warm night are honestly my favourite thing in the world and I don’t appreciate it enough when I have them.

I will be embracing summer in full force and taking every opportunity to soak up the sun with friends and family. I think these past three years have been unbelievably tough and it’s an incredible feeling to be on the other side of it all. Our newfound freedom is something I will never take for granted again.

Ben*, 28, he/him

This weekend I’ll be celebrating what I celebrate every weekend – the end of the working week. Every Friday, the excitement I feel for the weekend never gets old. To top it off, this weekend is particularly special because I’ll be celebrating a dear friend’s birthday. Knowing my friends, there will most definitely be some drinks and laughs involved.

Nadia*, 28, she/her

I have been making a dress for a few weeks now and just couldn’t get it quite right. The hem was always the wrong length and the neckline was just a mess, but finally the other day I nailed it. It’s exactly how I wanted it to turn out. I cannot wait to wear it and celebrate its completion. Picture a blue, floral maxi dress with an empire neckline and delicate lace trim. If you see a tall blonde wearing something similar down Smith Street, [there is a] high chance it is me! To show off my hard work I’ll be wearing it to a candle-lit dinner with my partner – romantic right?

Becca*, 35, she/her

This week is my twenty-third anniversary of becoming a woman. I don’t think enough people take the time to recognise what amazing things our bodies can do so I like to take the opportunity to give thanks. Like I do every year, I’ll be hosting a moon party with a bunch of my fellow ‘moon cyclers’. Recognising this milestone, I think is a great way to break the stigma around periods and instead embrace it as an incredible, natural process. I will be making a few of my favourite dishes and serving yummy drinks to match.

Billie*, 19, she/her

This week I found out I’ve scored an internship at a fashion house I’ve always dreamed of working at. I feel like I always thrive in a creative environment and am so excited about what’s to come. I love being immersed in fashion and have already planned some outfits I’ll be wearing day-to-day. To celebrate, I’ve booked a bottomless brunch with close friends and we’ll cheer with some dangerously good mimosas.
