Plantballs.

Let’s be real, we visit IKEA for its extensive furniture range, but we stay for the Swedish meatballs.

While a vegetarian alternative is currently on offer, those who’ve chosen the vegan life haven’t been able to delight in the store’s signature dish until now.

Yep, IKEA has announced a plant-based alternative to the balls, slated to hit its menus by 2020.

According to this IG post, the newer recipe will be ‘a sustainable version’ of the beloved meatball ‘that looks and tastes like meat but needs no meat’.

The consumer taste testing process is planned for early next year (sign us up?), followed by a global release.

Whether or not IKEA’s vegan answer to the meatball holds up, only time will tell.
