Having already inspired a collection of feature films and stage productions, the magical Roald Dahl universe is set to enter the Netflix realm.

The streaming giant has just announced a line-up of animated series, reimagining Roald Dahl classics. Prepare for new adaptations of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Twits and The BFG (to name a few).

What we’ve gathered so far is that the adaptations will stay pretty true to the spirit of Dahl’s narratives, but with a little creative licence.

According to the late writer’s wife: “Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories.”

Production for the first series will begin in 2019, which means there’s still plenty of time to get yourself reacquainted with your favourite stories.
