New study states obvious, says women are more attracted to men with dogs

Um, duh.

In the latest of a series of studies that confirm what we already knew, researchers have stated that women like men who like dogs. Well, pets in general really.

A team of researchers from a number of education facilities who surveyed over 1,200 online daters in the United States found that pets do play a role in the dating world.

Of those surveyed, the women were more than twice as likely as the men to say they were attracted to someone because they owned a pet.

They were also twice as likely to judge their potential suitor based on how they interacted with a pet.

The research team suggested the attraction to men with pets is most likely linked to his potential role as a partner and parent.

“Women tend to be more discerning in their mate preferences than men; women expend considerable energy evaluating a male partner’s capacity to provide resources to her and her offspring, including his emotional commitment and capacity to contribute valued resources,” the researchers wrote.
