ACMI to launch merchandise locally designed and produced by RMIT students


Having your artwork featured at the ACMI store is one way to spruce up your CV.

RMIT’s textile design students have been given the chance to design a range of merchandise, which will be sold exclusively at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) store.

The news comes after a recent collaboration between the university and the Centre, which saw the Bachelor of Arts (Textile Design) students partner with ACMI for a merchandising project.

Students Jane Merrylees, Jarnah Montersino, Aliya Murray and Bridget O’Rourke will have their locally-designed and produced merch on offer in the ACMI store. The titles of their respective collections are: Kool Kinesics, Play Pause, Electrical Current and Nuance.

Items such as tote bags, purses, stationery and homewares will be available to purchase, marking the Centre’s first-ever line of ACMI-branded merchandise sold at the shop.

“A lot of hard work goes into university assignments, so it’s really satisfying to see my products go into production for a wider audience,” says RMIT student, Jane Merrylees.

“Projects like this provide a solid platform upon which students can start to formulate an understanding of the industry that we may one day be a part of.”

All four students will receive an ACMI membership and a license fee for their designs, with the prospect of more collaborations in the future. 

The range is exclusively available in-store and online.
