Get ready to lose yourself in a world of immersive visuals.

Melbourne Music Week has fostered a reputation for turning some of the city’s most iconic spaces into immersive hubs of music, arts and culture – and this year is no exception.

After taking over St. Paul’s Cathedral last year, this year’s hub will be the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).

ACMI’s Gallery One will act as the event’s primary hub and bar. Along with the Lightwell, it will be transformed into a unique music space that delivers high-quality audio and video production, and some of the most immersive performances Melburnians have ever seen.

As for what’s in store for the first program reveal, things are already looking good. The notorious Opening Night Party will be curated by party pros Heaps Gay, bursting at the seams with live music, dancing, drag, installations and performances from Kira Puru, Maribelle and more until 4am.

Following that, expect a cavalcade of top-notch hub events including Detroit techno don Jeff Mills, a disco celebration from Renee Geyer, as well as a dancefloor-inducing set from Rival Console and Leon Vynehall.

Further highlights include Giles Peterson, DJ Seinfeld, Ainslie Willis, Gretta Ray, and a bass-laden program from The Operatives. Meanwhile, Aussie rock legends You Am I will be tearing up the Melbourne Town Hall with a set incorporating the Grand Organ, while an evening of RnB will take over the Immigration Museum headlined by REMI.
