Our girl Rihanna is going back to her Jamaican roots with an upcoming reggae/dancehall release.

While Rihanna has released tracks laced with Caribbean flavour in the past, this album will be entirely dedicated to the genre.

Reportedly already a year and a half in the works, heavyweight songwriters and producers are clamouring to be part of the huge project.

500 songs have been submitted for consideration so far, but according to an anon tip made to Rolling Stone, only ten will make the album. The source said:

“[Rihanna’s team] have, no lie, 500 records for this project [from] different producers and writers. They’re only choosing 10 records. They’ve been having writing camps and trying to keep them quiet for almost a year and a half now. I’ve been flying to Miami, flying to L.A., cutting records nonstop for this project.”

With no confirmation on when the album will be released, keep an eye on Rihanna’s socials for updates.
