Phondupe is performing with Melbourne’s Italian seniors choir

Words by Ruby Staley

Part of Melbourne Music Week.

This Thursday November 14, multi-hyphenate producer, Phondupe, will be bringing a unique performance to the steps of the State Library of Victoria.

As part of Swell at Melbourne Music Week, the installation will be free to the public.

The performance is set to feature Coro Furlan – Melbourne’s own choir of senior Italian citizens – who will lead a public chant. Onlookers will be invited to join while they haul a one-tonne luminescent cube down Swanston Street.

The installation is both a meditation on anxiety and ceremony, and will offer a space for participants to reflect and calm within the chaos of the CBD.
