MSFW recap: Modern Love

We were all about it.

The line-up for last night’s Modern Love runway read as a shortlist of our favourite labels. Búl, Gorman, Kuwaii, Limedrop, Leonard St., YB J’aime, Alexi Freeman, Asilio and Bless’ed are the Meek all showcased their new season pieces. So naturally, we were all about it.

The show was bright, as spring should be. Tangerines, powder pinks and gold foiling were heavy. Prints clashed, styles were playful and there were demure undertones, which was a little suprising given the line-up.

Gorman opened the show. No need to say any more really, because it’s Gorman and they’re always on point.

Búl stepped it up with more directional styles than past seasons. Leonard St delivered that matchstick print we can’t get enough of. They also went clashy-clashy on prints which we loved.

Asilio made jaws drop with that backless number while Limedrop made jaws drop with those light-up shoes (you can get them here, P.S). YB J’aime played on matronly silhouettes, delivering all-sheer numbers to sexy it up. Red lacy undies under a nanna style dress? Love it.

But it was Matcho Suba that gave the fash-pack pause. His soft draping and flowing silhouettes proved a dramatic divergence from his usual leather-heavy aesthetic. And he pulled it off. We overheard is name dropped at least three times after the show.

Despite the rain, the show left us feeling those spring vibes.

I guess you could say we had a ‘spring’ in our step…
 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
