A Melbourne fashion student editorial, shot and styled remotely
A celebration of boundless creativity.
The 2020 Melbourne Fashion Week (M/FW) program launched earlier this week, and it’s bursting at the seams with entirely free shows and events. The week runs from 23-29 November, and as an official media partner, we couldn’t be more excited about the lineup, which you can read our rundown of here.
This year, M/FW is focusing in on a more sustainable, seasonless approach to fashion, as well as championing the next generation of fashion talent through its Student Collections show.
There will be 40 participating students from Melbourne’s top design schools – Holmesglen Institute, Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia, RMIT School of Fashion and Design, The Masters Institute for Creative Education, Kangan Institute and Box Hill Institute – each showcasing their boundary-breaking graduate collections.
To celebrate their immense talent, Fashion Journal and M/FW collaborated with established Melbourne designers, creatives and models to remotely produce a shoot showcasing 10 of these student’s work. The shoot took place in Sydney, where models were shot in body stockings.
The styling was done in post-production, with the fashion students creating collages that mixed pieces from Melbourne designers Arnsdorf, Chris Ran Lin, Kuwaii, Mndatory, Elk and Búl with their own graduate collections. View the shoot above, and make sure to catch the digital show featuring their work, available to view here from November 23.
