Hair Expo Australia announces lineup for 2017

Love is in the hair.

Cancel your Queen’s Birthday plans, Hair Expo Australia has announced the lineup for its 32nd annual return. And anyone who knows a thing or two about hair will know it’s a doozy.

Sydney’s International Convention Centre (ICC) will host the 2017 instalment, featuring a lineup of local and international hair experts to provide their tips and insights throughout the three-day event.

In partnership with Mizutani Scissors, hairstylist Eugene Souleiman will lead a masterclass, taking stylists through his unique approach to cutting and styling. Having previously worked with Lady Gaga, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Calvin Klein and Armani, Souleiman is a heavyweight within the industry.

Australian reality TV star and expert business advisor Tabatha Coffey will hold a session curated for anyone who owns a business. From leadership essentials like staff motivation, to utilizing social media, Tabatha will touch on the fundamentals of running a successful hairdressing business. With a limit of 12 people per session, the class will offer an intimate insight into the world of hairdressing.

Guy Tang aka colourist royalty will return to Australia on the Olaplex World Tour. A cult social following of 1.5 million YouTube subscribers and 1.9 million Instagram followers probably means his Colour Creative Session will pack out.

UK colour directors Mark Hayes and Edward Darley (Sassoon) will lead three exclusive technical skills workshops which will be limited to 12 people. Learning stylists will get the chance to get first-hand insight and advice from two of the world’s leading hair experts.

The Schorem Brothers, famed by their barber shop in hometown Rotterdam, will also join the lineup, flying from the Netherlands to offer a class on men’s cuts. They’ll showcase their unique approach to barber styling, in partnership with Reuzel and Haircare Australia.

On June 10, the Masters of Hair Grand Stage will see a host of industry leaders provide coaching sessions. The lineup includes Mark Hayes, Edward Darley of Sassoon, Frank Apostolopoulos (2016 Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser of the Year), Tabatha Coffey, Sharon Blain, Jayne Wild, and Danny Pato (2016 Hair Expo NZ Hairdresser of the Year).

Day two will hold the GenNext Gala, where guests can attend mentor sessions held by Dmitri Papas, Justin Pace, Caterina Di Biase, Emiliano and Lisa Vitale, and Stevie English.

The expo’s main event, the Schwartzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards Gala, will be held on June 12, during which the annual hairdressing awards will be announced. An entertainment show will also take place during the ceremony.
