How it feels/smells/looks

Ahh Hourglass, you’ve done it again. Just when I thought the brand’s powder game couldn’t get any stronger, they manage to lift the bar once again. This deliciously lightweight translucent setting powder is infused with light-reflecting particles that leave you with you with the most flawless, diffused complexion imaginable. I was interested to see how this product compared to the Ambient Lighting Powders which I was previously using to set my face every day. This powder, however, takes it one step further. Upon application it leaves the skin looking airbrushed and adds a slight sheen – you don’t become completely matte, and it doesn’t cling to any dry patches or flaky areas.

Why I like it

These guys have honestly thought of everything. I’m usually not a fan of this type of packaging for a powder, as it literally ends up everywhere. The Hourglass team have managed to cast away my fears with a clever gold sifter design that ensures you dispense just the right amount of product each time (and it’s shaped cutely in an H!). My other usual gripe with these powders is how they leave a white cast or cause an ugly flashback. This has neither of these issues – it blends straight into the skin making it perfect for all skin tones. I’ve also heard some gurus say this powder should only be used under the eyes and on the highpoints of the face – I totally disagree, this is an all over face setting powder at its best. For those with oily skin, it won’t make you shiny, it will just help set everything in place.

Areas for improvement

I’ve got nothing here. It was love at first application, and this has now become my every day setting powder – I honestly love it!
