How it feels/smells/looks

As one of the most hyped products in recent months, the Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer was very high on my list of must-purchase products. I don’t know if it was because it was so hyped up that I was left a little underwhelmed – or just because it’s good, not game-changing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really nice formula. It’s super lightweight and sinks easily into the skin, but I keep reaching for other primers in my collection instead. I really like the packaging, but the glass bottle means this will be a no-go when travelling.

Why I like it

I find it similar in texture to the Too Face Hangover Primer, which I like due to how moisturising it is on the skin. This product has a slightly tacky, yet soft finish, which I really like. The best part is that it contains hyaluronic acid and niacinamide (a great source of vitamin B) which are my two favourite skincare ingredients. The result is a primer/moisturiser that keeps the skin rejuvenated and looking flawless, helping to even out the skin before applying foundation.

Areas for improvement

As I already use the skincare elements of this primer, I’m looking for a product that helps with the longevity of my makeup. This primer is a great moisturising base but doesn’t necessarily give me that all-day wear. Since I find it so similar to my Too Faced Primer (which is $46), I would repurchase that before I go for this product again.
