Top Three: Melbourne makeup artist and influencer Claire Bridgett on the beauty products she always repurchases

WORDS BY MAGGIE ZHOU

Adds to cart.

I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use. I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.

But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.

In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian creatives for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.

Joining us this week is Melbourne makeup artist and influencer Claire Bridgett. She makes a certified living off of her skincare and makeup recommendations, so I was eager to hear what she’d name as her top three products. Online, Claire’s vehemently honest about products that are overhyped and unpopular beauty opinions she holds. She’s also met Selena Gomez, so now we’re two degrees of separation away from one another. Here, Claire spills about her beauty must-haves that she’d repurchase in a heartbeat.

Product one: La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+

How did you first discover this product?

Controversially, I believe I found this through my sponsorship with La Roche Posay… When I put this on my face for the first time, it was love at first sight.

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

It’s a multi-purpose balm cream that quite literally solves everyone’s skin concerns. You can use it on redness, post-tattoo skin, post-acne marks, after hair removal and even when you have skin discomfort. Personally, I use it as a nighttime moisturiser when my skin needs a little TLC or when I just want a quick fix to boost hydration but can’t be bothered doing a multi-step skincare routine.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

You will find it on the shelves of Chemist Warehouse. Honestly, I recommend it to everyone as it’s a must in any household. Fun fact, it’s safe for babies over three months old. I will say it’s a must if you have dry and/or sensitive skin. If that’s you and you haven’t tried it – you’re missing out.

Product two: Hourglass Ambient Powder in Luminous Light

How did you first discover this product?

Working at Mecca for five years means you find the best of the best in beauty. But truthfully, I discovered this powder before my employment but had no clue how to use it… Now I use it every single time I do my makeup.

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

It’s a finishing powder, not to be confused with a setting powder. The Hourglass ambient powders are designed to mimic the effects of certain lighting to create an airbrushed effect. I have to use it every time I do my makeup as it blurs and evens out the complexion. I use it after setting my T-zone with a setting powder all over my face for a beautiful glow.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

Mecca! Anyone who wants to look airbrushed… so everyone. But I especially recommend it to those who usually hate powder and want a glowy finish but understand that powder is usually necessary for long-lasting makeup. It seriously elevates every makeup look.

Product three: Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter

How did you first discover this product?

It started going viral on TikTok and I knew I had to try it as a big Charlotte Tilbury lover. The only issue was that this was before Mecca launched it so I blind bought it before swatching it in store. Thankfully it paid off!

What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?

Many think it’s a foundation but it’s actually a glow enhancer. You can wear it under your foundation or mixed in. You can use it on top as a natural-looking highlighter or by itself for a very glowy look. I love mixing it into my foundation to add radiance; it makes foundations look more skin-like and ethereal. Once you start doing this technique, you won’t be able to stop. Your makeup will never be the same without it.

Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?

Find it at Mecca. I recommend it to anyone who feels like their complexion is looking dull and wants an extra boost of glow. It’s a game-changer.
