WORDS BY DEANA STEPANIAN AND CAIT EMMA BURKE
“You could say it was love at first sight.”
I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use. I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.

But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.
In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian beauty and skincare influencers for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.
Joining us this week is the star of Heartbreak High, actress and musician, Ayesha Madon. Ayesha knows her stuff when it comes to clean and affordable products that apply effortlessly and on the go. If like me, you want to know what she has on rotation, you’ll be pleased to know I’ve asked her for her top three favourite beauty products of all time.
Product one: Okana’s Natural Mango + Apricot Cleanser

How did you first discover this product?
I got sent a box of their products to try, and I’m usually sceptical [when it comes to] trying new skincare… I don’t like to use products with fragrances or complicated ingredients, but this box was 100 per cent natural and vegan. It came with a full rundown on why oil cleansing doesn’t make you break out – which was a concern I previously had with double cleansing – but rather prevents it. You could say it was love at first sight with this little gem.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
It’s a cute little oil cleanser I use at night to take off my makeup or wash away other oils or dirt on my face from the day before. After this, I use Okana’s Apple Juice Foaming Cleanser. It only has four ingredients and it’s made out of fruit. It’s [also] vegan, alcohol-free and preservative-free. So my skin’s really taken well to it.
Where can we find it and who would you recommend it to?
Okana is a New Zealand brand that has just launched in Australia… woo hoo! It’s for anyone who is completely clueless about skincare, but wants glowing skin without the effort – you can go buy this bad boy from the brand’s online store.
Product two: Mecca Max Whip Lash Tubing Mascara

How did you first discover this product?
One of my makeup artists on a show that I shot called The Moth Effect told me I should use tubing mascara. I was complaining about getting panda eyes constantly (just hollow eye things, ya know) and I’m a sucker for home brand prices, so I tried this one and it worked a treat.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
It’s a mascara that tubes around your lashes when it dries, and it legitimately never smudges or comes off without warm water. I can swim in the ocean with it, and it acts like waterproof mascara. But it’s not like waterproof mascara, which feels like a Big Brother challenge to take off in the shower. It’s the best thing since sliced bread.
Where can we find it and who would you recommend it to?
Well, Mecca… and I recommend this to literally anyone who wants a really good, reasonably-priced mascara. It’s pretty light, but if you like a more natural mascara like me, then you’ll love this one.
Product three: Slick Stick Anti-Fly Away Magic Wand

How did you first discover this product?
I stumbled upon it in Coles – it looked pretty and was on drastic sale, so I bought it.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
It’s a little pocket-sized hair product in a tube of wonder that slicks (and I mean slicks) even the most disobedient flyaways… I have the thickest, frizziest hair and I used to struggle to slick my hair without heavy hair products. But this product even holds back my lil’ baby hairs too.
Where can we find it and who would you recommend it to?
I mean, I got mine from the cosmetic aisle in Coles, but I think you could probably find it in most grocery stores and pharmacies. If you like the slick, get the stick… poor choice of words, but you get me.
