I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to beauty. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, how often you wash your hair, and exactly what brand of tweezers you’re using. I want to know what curl definer you always repurchase and which lip balm you swear by.
In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian beauty experts to share the ‘top three’ items in their kit. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be anything, as long as they’re the three they value the most.

Joining us this week is Sydney-based makeup artist and hair stylist Max May. Max is known for creating naturally glowing skin, fluffy brows and cool girl hair (“it’s done but it’s lived in”), aka, the look most of us want to master everyday.
We can also get behind his approach to beauty: embracing what you’ve got. “Everyone is so focused on fixing or covering the things they don’t like,” says Max. “My approach is to start with a positive and focus on the features you love… You’ll actually realise the things you didn’t like or thought you needed to fix aren’t even that bad when you approach it this way.”

How did you first discover this product?
It’s brand new – I’d been reading about it post launch online. It sounded right up my alley, so as soon as it launched I went straight into Sephora to try it!
Why does it do and why do you love it?
It’s a sheer but very glowy skincare-based skin tint. I love the look it gives skin. It’s like your skin but post a facial, where no matter what light you’re in your skin looks like it’s being lit by candle light.
Who would you recommend it to?
To anyone that wants to perfect their skin rather masking it. It’s the perfect base for everyday!
Product two: Charlotte Tilbury Exaggereyes Mascara

How did you first discover this product?
I’m always on the hunt for a mascara. I do so many different people, all with different types of lashes and wanting different types of effects.
Why do you love it?
This is a super black, glossy volumising mascara that you can build up to the thickest fake lash effect, without weighing your lashes down.

Product three: Nude By Nature Hydra Stick Lip and Cheek Colour

How did you first discover this product?
I actually had this sent to me by Nude by Nature PR.
What is it and why do you love it?
It’s a cream lip and cheek colour that gives the perfect blend of colour and glow. The blend and hold is fabulous and it comes in four beautiful, wearable colours that you can mix and match depending on your feeling or vibe. I love a multitasker!
