Role Description

Our purpose is to redefine modern sophistication by creating enduring pieces that inspire confidence and elegance in all facets of the Elka Collective woman’s life.
As a Designer at Elka Collective, you will report directly to the Creative Director and be responsible for developing seasonal ranges that align with our brand aesthetic. This role requires a blend of creativity and technical skill, as you will be involved in every step of the design process, from concept to final sample.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and present trends that align with the brand’s aesthetic to the Creative Director.
- Assist the Creative Director in the design and development of four seasonal ranges per year, including 80-110 options and accessories.
- Create garment design specifications using Adobe Illustrator.
- Oversee design and measurement specifications for all core and carry-over styles.
- Attend weekly fit sessions, collaborating closely with garment technicians.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding lab dips, strike-offs, initial fabric, and FOB costings.
KEY SKILLS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Designer in a similar role.
- Strong skills in garment and accessory design with an understanding of industry trends and innovations.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator for sketching and creating technical specifications.
- Strong garment technician skills and experience working with manufacturing processes.
- Passionate about fashion with a keen understanding of silhouettes, fabrications, and detail.
- Thrives in a collaborative environment and seeks to step up creatively.
- Firm grasp of new innovations in fabric technology and design processes.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel for managing data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly when liaising with offshore factories.
