Role Description
As a key player in the Design team, you will be responsible for concepting and implementing all forms of communications for MECCA. This may include digital touchpoints such as the website, email, media and social, and printed touchpoints such as in-store collateral, packaging, events and marketing collateral. The ideal candidate will have experience in branding and campaign ideation and a good understanding of how their creative can translate across all channels. Your role will also extend to supporting ad-hoc design requirements briefed in from other departments when necessary.
You will have the ability to work at a high-level under tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, work well within a team and display excellent communication abilities. You will have the ability to see a project through from initial conception stage to print and/or web ready finished art. Attention to detail, an appreciation for a luxe, leading retail environment (online and in-store), and the ability to be both commercially sensible, yet creatively ambitious, will be essential to succeeding in your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to deliver compelling concepts
- Continually find ways to push creative boundaries and ways to innovate
- Take ownership of projects end-to-end and be the lead designer across all aspects of the process
- Manage timings of projects and proactively ensure deadlines are being met
- Show strong design skills and work autonomously on projects
- Mentor and guide other team members across their projects where support is required
- Manage expectations/stakeholder approvals and proactively find solutions
- Manage one’s workload and work through conflicting priorities
- Be the brand custodian and ensure consistency of brand guidelines and messaging across all channels
- Support the team with ad hoc requests and be responsible for delivering those outputs.
- Support and contribute to a positive team culture
KEY SKILLS
- Experience in designing for a 360 brand (across all channels)
- Able to ideate, create and concept with creative flair
- A solid understanding of typography principles and best practice
- Good understanding of branding and working with brand style guides
- Strong finished art experience, with a good understanding of print pre-press
- A good understanding of how static designs translate into code
- Highly organised, and able to thrive in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
- Embraces challenges and new methods of thinking
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage timelines
- The ability to present your designs and ideas to senior stakeholders and be responsible and adept at gathering, processing and actioning feedback
- 3+ years’ experience either for an agency or a leading brand with an omni-channel presence
- A tertiary qualification in Visual Communications Design, Multimedia or similar
- Strong, demonstrable technical skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects), Figma and other creative tools to image-make and communicate
- Demonstrable experience designing digital campaigns that live across journeys that include but not limited to responsive web, EDMs, social media posts (paid and organic) and experiential media preferred
- Solid presentation skills with client stakeholders and excellent written communication skills
- Motion design capabilities are highly desirable
- Agency/Studio experience is desirable
