Role Description
Josh Wood Colour, one of London’s most celebrated hair institutions, has landed in Australia, and we’ve made ourselves right at home inside MECCA Bourke Street. Founded by globally recognised colourist Josh Wood, our Melbourne salon opened in August 2025 and it’s already buzzing. We’re a tight-knit team of creative professionals who pride ourselves on delivering exceptional hair and unforgettable client experiences, every single day.
The Role
This is a hybrid role for a newly qualified stylist who’s fast, polished and brilliant with people. You’ll be employed as an entry-level stylist with your own chair, and your week splits in two:
- 3 days in the MECCA Atelier. Dry-styling (blow-dries, finishes and hair-ups) for up to 8 clients a day, alongside the MECCA make-up artists.
- 2 days in the salon. Building your own column of cut, style and finish clients.
Whenever your chair isn’t booked, you’ll step into our Salon Host & Assistant role, looking after clients and supporting the team This is a key role for us and one we are looking to fill with someone flexible and keen to be part of an exclusive London brand, available only at MECCA Bourke St and Chadstone.
Key Responsibilities
Stylist and Atelier Services
- Delivering high-quality, tailored cutting, styling and finishing services in the salon and in the Atelier
- Immaculate hair-up skills
- Leading in-depth consultations, really listening, and advising clients with honesty and confidence
- Building lasting client relationships and driving rebookings for your column and the salon
- Contributing to a supportive, inclusive and upbeat team culture
Salon Host & Assistant
- Provide a warm and professional welcome to all clients
- Prepare and serve refreshments, maintaining a high standard of presentation
- Assist stylists and colourists with salon preparations, including shampooing, head massages, and brushing hair
- Ensure salon tools and workstations are prepared, restocked, and organised
- Support with stock management, ordering, and retail merchandising
- Support with bookings, client check-ins, and payments
- Ensure excellent communication across all client touchpoints
Who you are
- A newly qualified hairdresser with strong technical skills across cutting, styling, blow-dryies and hair-up
- A natural at building real relationships. Clients come back because of you
- Comfortable sharing your work on social media
- A team player who lifts everyone around you
- Experience in luxury or high-end salons is a bonus, but passion and skill matter most
