Role Description
Mixdown, Australia’s leading music instrument, pro audio and music creator’s publication, is seeking an editor to join its Melbourne based team. The role will involve managing content output across all of Mixdown’s platforms – social, web, e-news and print – as well as working across various editorial projects.
Joining a highly skilled and passionate team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively alongside a wider team and thrive on the thrill of being immersed in Australia’s music, musical instrument and pro audio industries.
A hybrid WFH / office situation is on offer (Mondays and Fridays WFH, Tuesday to Thursday in our Brunswick-based office), along with the opportunity to attend a range of events on Australia’s cultural calendar throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit produce and publish content across Mixdown’s platforms.
- Ideate content to appear across Mixdown’s social, web and print platforms.
- Coordinating the production of Mixdown’s bimonthly print magazine.
- Maintain Mixdown’s editorial directories, including writing, editing and updating content.
- Maintain relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including publicists, freelance writers and other contractors.
- Coordinate delivery of branded and sponsored content across Mixdown’s platforms.
- Analyse and report on audience data across all channels.
- Grow Mixdown’s social media platforms.
- Attend industry events to build strong connections, increase brand profile and deliver social
- media coverage.
- Coordinating and appearing in Mixdown social video posts.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Experience in a professional editing, writing or content creation role.
- A tertiary qualification in professional writing, journalism or a similar field is desired.
- A portfolio of published work.
- Demonstrably excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An understanding of the Australian music, music instrument and pro audio industries.
- Software proficiency in all of the following: MAC OS, Word/Pages, Powerpoint/Keynote, Google
- Suite, Canva, Capcut and ideally at least one web based CMS (WordPress, Drupal etc.)
- Experience using a wide range of professional writing or editing software is highly desirable.
- A deep understanding of and experience using social media.
- A strong work ethic.
- The ability to play a musical instrument at a least an intermediate level and/or experience in creating music using professional music tools and/or software is highly desirable.
- A passion for the Australian creative industries especially music.
A base salary commensurate with experience is on offer for the right person.
