Role Description
The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Senior Curator, First Nations Art, whose work exemplifies the NGVâs values, ambition and leadership. In this role, the Senior Curator will work closely with team members across the NGV to conceptualise, develop, and execute exhibitions, commissions, partnerships, publications, and programs and importantly, contribute to the strategic development of the NGVâs leading First Nations Art collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the First Nations Art collection in alignment with the NGV Collections Strategy, and participate in the planning, research, development and coordination of relevant displays, exhibitions, projects and partnerships.
- Lead and manage the First Nations curatorial team and its projects by drawing upon demonstrated people management experience.
- Contribute to departmental and cross-departmental curatorial planning, bringing strategic planning experience to contribute new ideas and approaches to First Nations projects and achieve agreed outcomes.
- Ensure the safekeeping of the First Nations Art collection, including following acquisition policies and procedures.
- Perform a senior and strategic role in building, developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and promote awareness and support of the NGV First Nations Art collection through engagement with donors, partners, community members and collaborators.
