Role Description
The Production and Warehouse Assistant plays a key role in supporting the design and production lifecycle at Variety Hour. This role ensures the seamless coordination between the design, marketing, and e-commerce teams, particularly in areas related to product development, inventory, and operational logistics.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will assist with supplier communication, sample management, purchase orders, and stock handling, while also contributing to general studio operations.
This is not a design-focused role. It is ideal for someone with a strong aptitude for logistics, organisation, and communication within a fast-paced creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
PRODUCTION SUPPORT
- Assist the Production Manager in creating tech packs and purchase orders.
- Coordinate supplier communications and manage the shipment of purchase orders to the warehouse and retail store.
- Oversee sample administration, including ordering, receiving, and quality checking.
- Assist in reviewing and approving pre-production and shipping samples.
- Maintain and archive design assets including samples, fabric swatches, trims, and reference materials.
STOCK AND INVENTORY
- Manage incoming stock deliveries to both the Gertrude Street store and the warehouse.
- Delegating pick and pack between warehouse and store staff.
- Conduct stock counts and quality control checks, ensuring all inventory is organised accurately.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to resolve any stock discrepancies or issues.
- Work closely with the E-commerce Manager to ensure accurate inventory tracking, product uploads and correct stock locations.
- Conduct regular (1–2 times per week) stock transfers and drop-offs between the warehouse and the retail store.
OPERATIONS AND STUDIO MANAGEMENT
- Coordinate with contractors including cleaners, trades, and delivery services.
- Manage procurement of office and studio supplies.
- Support in small studio administration tasks (e.g. staff birthdays, christmas party, workplace culture initiatives)
- Assist the marketing and e-commerce teams with product styling, descriptions, and shoot preparation as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar or relevant role.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in fashion, logistics, or business is desirable.
