Keep your eye on these ones.
It’s a weird time to be alive. We’re in the midst of a once in a lifetime pandemic, and life as we know it has altered dramatically. Sneezing in public is a no-go, masks are the accessory du-jour and toilet paper is a distant memory.
Especially hard hit by the current circumstances are freelancers and creatives – as events across the globe are postponed and cancelled, many are finding themselves in precarious situations, both financially and emotionally. The silver lining of this is that thousands of Instagram users have been using the platform to show their favourite creatives – makeup artists, stylists, photographers, creative directors – some love.
But models and their agencies have also been hit hard by this crisis we find ourselves in. With the early closure of VAMFF, many interstate models were sent home midway through hair and makeup, and MBFWA has just announced that their 25th-anniversary week-long event will now be celebrated in 2021 instead of this May.
Uncertainty abounds as many models are left to wonder whether the men’s fashion weeks in June and July will still be going ahead and whether normality will be restored before the spring/summer shows in September.
Agencies in Sydney had already started preparing their MBFWA show packs, so here are a few new faces who would have made their MBFWA debut this year if corona hadn’t arrived and messed it all up. Hopefully, we can see them hit the runways in MBFWA ’21 instead.
