“Amidst the exhausting pace of fashion and overwhelming offerings, I want to offer premium vintage that you can cherish forever.”

Australian online vintage store Art Garments has built a cult following thanks to its expert curation of some of the most singular items. The woman behind Art Garments is Grace Corby, a Sydney-based vintage collector with an incredible knack for sourcing the types of pieces you can’t find anywhere else.

Earlier this week, Grace released her first drop of Pure Silk, a 100-item collection of vintage silk pieces that were unearthed from a Sydney warehouse, and date back to the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s. Grace combed through countless boxes and racks to select a breathtaking selection of styles, from everyday staples like button-ups and slinky camis to asymmetrical slip dresses that are reminiscent of John Galliano’s iconic designs for Dior in the ’90s and early 2000s.

All one hundred pieces will be listed across February, and each piece is, as the collection’s name suggests, made of pure silk. The items come in a variety of types of silk too, with the range featuring everything from chiffon, crepe de chine, silk velvet, silk jersey, georgette, sueded and sandwashed silk. While some items will be available in small quantities and several different sizes, many are one-offs.

Pure Silk was brought to life after Grace spent some time considering the current state of vintage selling. “It’s an increasingly crowded market which is great for circular consumption, but it’s also applying a healthy pressure on me to improve and differentiate Art Garments by offering pieces that can’t be found elsewhere. Old sourcing channels have become sparse and I’m having to forge new paths and relationships to bring my customers the quality vintage they’re seeking,” she explains.
