Comme des Garçons has collaborated with Burberry, Gucci, Maison Margiela and more on a huge holiday collection

Redesigning iconic pieces

The holidays are a time to come together, put aside our differences and celebrate.

Comme des Garçons is showing everyone how with its latest Holiday capsule, which taps nine different labels for a festive collaboration.

Designers from Gucci, Burberry, Maison Margiela, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stussy, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Marine Serre and Walter Van Beirendonck were each asked to submit an iconic piece from their brand for CdG to rework. Rei Kawakubo then put her own spin on these designs, turning a Burberry scarf into a tie, Gucci-fying a CDG tote bag, and updating Maison Margiela’s AIDS charity T-shirt.

Kawakubo’s husband (and CdG CEO), Adrian Joffe, gave WWD further insight into the various collabs saying: “Rei does not enjoy two captains on a ship. So we either leave it to them or ask that they leave it to her. The nine brands were very happy to leave it to her this time.”

Friends and Comme des Garçon’s Happy Holidays is currently available exclusively at Ginza’s Dover Street Market, but will be coming to other DSM and CdG locations from December 6.
