Cool tones and comfortable cuts.

Working in a creative role, it can be difficult to know how to dress for the day. Instead of having a set uniform of crisp white shirts and tailored black pants (as much as I love both), an ever-changing schedule means every morning requires a set of questions. Am I running around, or just sitting at my desk? Do I need to dress specifically for a project? And most importantly, will I be in the background of someone’s TikTok?

For Elinor McInnes, the Founder and Creative Director of Melbourne label Joslin, her brand’s commitment to sustainability extends to her own sartorial choices. Throughout her week, you’ll find her in cool neutrals and natural fibres, no matter if she’s at home or in the studio. Effortlessly comfortable with a touch of femininity, her outfits are simultaneously practical and timeless. Among her own Joslin pieces are pieces from Isabel Marant, Nelson Made and Céline. Read on to see what she gets up to in a week (and to score her outfit details too).

Monday

Working in the fashion industry entails a hectic lifestyle and most days look very different to the next. My weekly schedule consists primarily of going back and forth to the studio and office, fittings, designing, photoshoots, running errands, attending meetings and time spent at home with my husband and our dogs.

After Monday morning sales meetings with the team, I spent Monday afternoon in the studio working on our Resort 24 Collection. We will be showcasing it at our debut Afterpay Australian Fashion Week runway this year. I’m wearing our all-time most loved Lillian Linen Ramie Mini Smock Dress. You’ll find me wearing this dress at least one day a week. It’s so comfortable and cute!

Tuesday

Parcels from our makers usually arrive every Tuesday morning, so we always spend Tuesday afternoon working on fittings and development. I’m wearing Joslin’s new season Isabel Organic Cotton Knit Tank and our Delilah Linen Palazzo Pant in our Tobacco colourway. We had these pants manufactured exclusively for Net-A-Porter this season and had a few leftovers from production, so I snatched them up before anyone else in the team could get them!

Wednesday

Another day of design and development in the studio, so comfort is vital. I’m standing before our keep samples I collected from the Paris vintage markets. I always return to this rack for new ideas and try to add to it a few times a year! Here I’m wearing Joslin’s new season Augusta Linen Midi Dress in Moon and Nelson Made slides.

Friday

I was going out to dinner Friday night, so I wore Joslin’s new season Phoebe Organic Cotton Wrap Top and Sophia Organic Cotton Palazzo Pants. I styled it back with one of my Isabel Marant clutches.

Saturday

Saturdays are always at home if I can make it work. I like to wake up, put on my ‘house clothes’, enjoy a coffee and make breakfast with my husband and our fur babies. Cooking, baking and food preparation is my form of weekend relaxation, so the kitchen is almost always where you’ll find me. It helps me to reset and refresh for the week ahead. Here you can see me wearing my new Camilla and Marc charcoal set (it’s so comfy).

Sunday

Sundays are for errands, trips to the market and coffee – yes, I love coffee. I struggled to get out of the door because of our dog Elizabeth, she’s just cute in the photo! I wore my favourite Nelson Made slides (this time in black), Céline bag, Joslin’s new season Josephine Organic Cotton Trench and Isabel Organic Cotton Cashmere Knit Dress. As I was also running professional errands, I was a little more dressed up than my usual Sunday get-up, which usually looks very close to Saturday’s look.
