VAMFF: Runway 7 Presented by Instyle

On a side note, go out and by yourself a wide belt, stat.

So it was a bit of a party at Runway 7 presented by InStyle.

Aside from balloons and streamers (yes, there really were), we also felt a serious buzz in the crowd complete with whistles and loud applause. This reached a peak after Thurley’s showcase, whose collection led Camilla Franks to ‘woo’ loudly literally bow, again and again. It was amazing.

Totally deserved though, with the label delivering a wholly stunning collection. Delicate yet bold lace, elegant volume and sheer in all the right places expressed a new level of finesse, before unseen by the label. One concern expressed was that Thurley may have just lost their wearability, but with that they gained credibility, as designs now call for skillful styling.

Those looking for wearability would have found it in macgraw, who delivered a modern yet entirely practical range, following their place as finalists in the Tiffany and Co. National Designer Award.

Camilla nailed the birthday party dress code, with her usual bright prints and sparkling embellishment. Despite sticking to her signature, she raised the bar playing with ‘cool’ colours and adding texture with super-light blazers.

Arthur Galan also focused on colour, blocking his designs with typical winter tones (mustard, teal, etc).

Aurelio Costarella played magician, pulling volume from near-impossible lightweight fabrics, while Trelise Cooper created shape with striking silhouettes.

On a side note, go out and by yourself a wide belt, stat.
