Fashion Journal’s top picks for the Adelaide Fashion Festival

Get excited.

There’s a distinct thrill that comes from discovering a lesser known designer. We’ve already seen a huge amount of fresh talent come out of Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and even Brisbane, but now our eyes are widening as Adelaide steps up.

Cue the Adelaide Fashion Festival, coming up from October 22-25. The event is set to showcase the best of the state’s up-and-coming labels, some of which may look familiar, many of which won’t. But you’ll love.

The festival will also see a number of established designers present their new collections, as well an international collection launch. All up it’s set to be a good one.

With AFF fast approaching, we’re giving you our top picks from the jam-packed fashion goodness to come.

Day 1 – Ready To Wear Runway

Opening the festival with a bang is Ready To Wear, showcasing some of Adelaide’s best young talent. With names such as S I G The Label, casper&pearl and Simmone Standing/the Label, it’s sure to be a celebration of creativity and fresh collections. Other designers include Scott and Scarce, Julie White, Naomi Murrell, Millicent Elizabeth, Lucy Giles, Paige Rowe and 66 The Label. Day 3 – Honda presents A Night of Fashion at the Art Gallery with Clique Mag

An 80 metre catwalk will stretch throughout the Elder Wing of the Art Gallery of South Australia, with a spotlight on the summer collections of local designers TY-LR and ACLER alongside big names like Carla Zampatti and Jack London. All brought together with sweets and cocktails in one of South Australia’s historic landmarks, this creative smorgasbord will be a feast for your eyes – and stomach.

There’s nothing like wrapping up a fashion festival with a peek at the fancy couture to come for 2016. And thanks to the launch of Paolo Sebastian’s new Autumn/Winter collection, Nightingale, we won’t be disappointed. Featuring on the red carpet from Cannes to the Oscars, Paul Vasileff designs his clothes to spark imagination and transport fashion appreciators to a different world. As well as rounding off the AFF festivities with two shows, this will also be the international debut of the collection. All eyes on Adelaide.
