Stellie steals the show

Words by Anthony Graetz

Making waves.

After supporting Winston Surfshirt in her hometown of Adelaide, indie-pop singer and songwriter Stellie, has released her first single, ‘Love Me First’.

‘Love Me First’ navigates the tumult of a breakup through melancholy lyrics tinged with nostalgia.

Although this is Stellie’s first official single, she’s currently got two other songs under her belt. ‘Cry Baby’ was written in her bedroom and is the unofficial prequel to ‘Love Me First’. Stellie also co-wrote ‘Let’s Forget We Were In Love’ with Adelaide producer, Mario Spate.

Inspired by strong female voices such as Lorde, Jorja Smith and Maggie Rogers, Stellie says ‘Love Me First’ is a classic example of the cliché, love is blind.

“It was one of those cases where I didn’t believe it could happen until it happened to me,” Stellie says.

Stellie will make her industry debut at Bigsound this September and is set to support Didirri in his South Australian shows later this year.
