Lonely taps baes Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke for new, unphotoshopped campaign

Lonely for you only.

When we think of our favourite lady friendships, Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke are definitely high up in the mix. The duo met in high school, going on to co-star in numerous acting projects.

Most recently however, the pair have posed for imagery that will feature as part of the Lonely lingerie’s Lonely Girls Project. Shot by Zara Mirkin and Harry Were, the portraits attempt to showcase these women in their own environment.

“We aspire to showcase women wearing underwear in a way that we don’t see in mainstream advertising and the media,” a Lonely spokesperson said of the online project.

Helen Morris founded lonely in 2009, seeking to glorify women “who wear lingerie as a love letter to themselves.”

The photos are never retouched and feature across the brand’s Instagram and website.

Both Dunham and Kirke have notably contributed to conversations about feminism and positive self-esteem, aligning them with Lonely’s overall brand message.

“Instead of being objectified, the women who participate in these campaigns – in this case, Lena and Jemima – are empowered and exhibit real beauty that will hopefully help women everywhere feel a little more liberated.”

We love a brand that celebrates and empowers women of all shapes and sizes – especially one that is so close to home.
