Nike covered its Air Max in 55,000 Swarovski crystals

Because of course it did.

In what is easily the most extra news you’ll hear this week, Nike has covered its Air Max 97 LX in 55,000 Swarovski crystals.

It’s to celebrate 20 years of the Air Max 97 silhouette and the colourway (if you can call it that) has been affectionately titled the ‘Silver Bullet’. Nike also teased a black-crystal iteration in March, and both colours are due to drop globally on September 7.

While the traditional 20-year anniversary present is china, we imagine it’s a bit harder to translate this to a shoe. We’ll happily settle for 55,000 crystals instead.

It’ll all come at a hefty price tag, however, with the rumoured retail price sitting at roughly $500.
