Sneak Peek: Búl SS16 collection ‘Sri Lanka’

In heaven.

Taking inspiration from breathtaking coastline and culture, Búl’s SS16 collection Sri Lanka embodies the small island’s beauty, colour, tradition and architecture.

Knots, ties and billowing drapery dominate the design, referencing a rich melting pot of temple mosaics, colonial architecture and the colourful Batik printing used in traditional sarongs.

The bold colour palette echoes visuals like sunlight dancing on the ocean shoreline and the bright colours of the Sri Lankan flag. Tangerines, yellows and oranges contrast soft nude, deep navy, blue, grey and black, with an emphasis on high neck cuts, layers and horizontal colour blocking.

Structures are kept relaxed and minimal, emulating elegance while bordering on androgyny. It all adds up to beach wear with an element of effortless sophistication. Fabrics include habutai and soft crepe de chine, as well as natural cotton and linen to create a balance of flowing silks and texture.

This summer will also see the Melbourne-based label dabbling in swimwear, introducing a mix‘n’match option for every shape and size. The two piece will feature two simple colourways, navy and white stripes and black.

A shoe collection will see closed-toe pointed sandals, a simple double-strap slip on style, two-toned leather details and chunky heels in blue white, and orange.

Everything about this is just so right.
