Best foot forward.
We’re of the firm belief that a great outfit starts from the feet up. That’s why we’ve made it our New Year’s resolution to ditch our tired old shoes in favour of some new season kicks.
We pulled a few of our favourite brands from Platypus Shoes and took them for a spin. Flick through the gallery above and read on for our styling tips below.
VOLLEY HERITAGE INTERNATIONAL $54.99
No wardrobe is complete without a comfortable pair of sneakers, which is why we’re all about a Volley resurgence. The shoe’s canvas upper and soft rubber grip is made for comfort, while its laidback design is the perfect match for a backyard BBQ. Ladies can style their white Volleys with a breezy culotte, whereas guys can opt for cuffed chinos.
LACOSTE STRAIGHTSET $169.99
There’s no proper way to prepare for a road trip, but a quality pair of sneakers is a great place to start. Lacoste’s Graduate and Straightset styles arrive in fresh white colourways, finished off with premium leather uppers. Wear yours with a linen ensemble for an elevated take on summer dressing.
BLUNDSTONE #063 DRESS BOOT $199, BLUNDSTONE #059 DRESS BOOT $189 (AVAILABLE ONLY AT PLATYPUS MELBOURNE CENTRAL SUPER STORE)
Blundstone is the ultimate festival shoe. Merging style and comfort, the workwear-inspired boot will keep you dancing all day long. Channel a utilitarian look by pairing with a jumpsuit, or keep it relaxed with a party shirt.
GENUINS HAWAII VACHETTA $99.99
A sandal that feels just at home on the beach as it does in the bar gets a big tick from us. Match your Genuins with a twin set, and opt for a cool white colourway for something different. To avoid awkward Dad sandal territory, try wearing shorts above the knee, or pair with a printed shirt.
ROLLIE DERBY PUNCH $179.95
The silly season may have come and gone, but that’s no excuse to ditch your dancing shoes. Opt for a pair sans heel for maximum comfort (like Rollie’s Derby Punch) and style with a mini dress for a casual night out on the town. Blisters not included.
