A week in work outfits with the Founder and CEO of Good Times Pilates, Cat Webb

WORDS BY CAIT EMMA BURKE

“My work outfits need to toe the line of being functional enough for me to get on the floor to do some reformer maintenance while allowing me an element of self-expression.”

Working in a creative role, it can be difficult to know how to dress for the day. Instead of having a set uniform of crisp white shirts and tailored black pants (as much as I love both), an ever-changing schedule means every morning requires a set of questions. Am I running around, or just sitting at my desk? Do I need to dress specifically for a project? And most importantly, will I be in the background of someone’s TikTok?

This week, Cat Webb, the Founder and CEO of Good Times Pilates, takes us through a week in her jam-packed life. Running her thriving Melbourne-based business while being a mother means each day is different from the next.

With a penchant for mixing local labels with high-end pieces from labels like Ganni and Chloe, Cat’s effortlessly cool outfits always prioritise comfort, colour and bold prints. Her busy schedule means these outfits need to take her from the desk, a Pilates mat, childcare, meetings and one of her three studios, sometimes all in the one day. Here’s what she wore across the week.

Monday

On Mondays I like to get shit done, meaning I mostly work from home and do all the necessary but slightly mundane parts of running a business, like payroll, paying invoices, organising my inbox and sending out our weekly team newsletter. So, I’m usually wearing something comfy enough to sit down in all day but also a few pieces that feel fun to help brighten the mood.

Like these Lucy Folk pants that I lusted after for almost a while year before I actually purchased which I’m wearing with this oversized lemon yellow shirt from Blanca (that I got at their warehouse sale in Sydney), plum faux croc skin Ganni slides that I wear A LOT and a khaki Uniqlo bum bag that I only wore to chuck my phone and a Hot Wheels car in while I walked my toddler to childcare.

Tuesday

On Tuesday I went for a very Aussie-centric outfit for a number of meetings mostly online or over the phone but some IRL too. I head into my office at our Brunswick studio to take some of these meetings with our Studio and Ops Manager. I have over 25 staff and we mostly all work not in the same physical space at once, so we like to do phone check-ins as often as we can. My work outfits need to toe the line of being functional enough for me to get on the floor to do some reformer maintenance, potentially sit on my butt for hours, allow me an element of self-expression and always have a little moment of fun.

The pants are Camilla and Marc (which when they were stolen along with my car I was maybe more upset about the prospect of losing them than the car), top is Scanlan and Theodore, crossbody bag is Radical Yes (it’s lined in a neon green fabric too!), shoes are Proenza Schouler x Birkenstock and necklaces are Holly Ryan and Lovisa.

Wednesday

The statement I hear a lot from people when they first hear I own Pilates studios goes something like “Wow, you must love getting to wear leggings every day”. Sure, leggings are comfy, but they’re also kinda boring and hard to style. So, on the rare occasions when I do actually teach Pilates, like on this Wednesday, I lean more towards attire that can technically be worn to move in but is really just streetwear or loungewear.

This P.A.M. tee shirt is hands down my current fave. I always feel cool in it, it goes with everything and the fit is perfection. I’ve paired it with some Adidas Originals shorts, Ganni recycled leather bag and my super fun chunky platform Chloe sandals.

Thursday

On Thursday I’m running errands, as well as taking meetings and marketing. Having three studios and a storage unit where we have everything delivered, I’m often driving around picking up goods and dropping them off and also spending time in the studios making sure everything is looking good and working properly. I have a meeting about an upcoming event we’re running in collaboration with another brand, so we’re nutting out the final logistics and guest list. We’re also about to launch a brand new custom-designed app, so I’m working with the developers to make sure it’s all running smoothly and planning our communications around the changeover.

It’s about 35 degrees today so I’m trying to stay cool in this Bassike rib tube tank in the most fun red/orange colour (they call it Grenadine), Blanca denim shorts – I hunted for this style for so long and they’re the perfect length/width/rise on me – the beloved Ganni sandals and Poppy Lissiman handbag that’s big enough to fit all my goodies (laptop, notebook, dummies, Good Times x Nalgene drink bottle, Pilates grip socks, sunnies, wallet, etc) and can’t forget the Anni Lu necklace that helps make the outfit a bit more playful.

Friday

It’s Friday! I’ve got a coaching session with my mentor/coach in leadership, business, life, etc. I’ve had a pretty intense period of growth both as a human and business owner over the last two years, so the first half of this year I’m really focusing on building better systems and processes to set myself, and in turn my team and business, up for success. A coach helps me stay accountable and organised, a necessity for my million-ideas-a-minute brain. I’m also getting my hair done, which is a fun way to spend a Friday arvo (cue me sitting at the hairdresser for three hours trying to do even a little bit of work).

People always comment on this dress and I like to think it’s because it makes them smile. It’s the perfect dress for a Friday! It’s from Damson Madder, a small UK-based brand that I really only just recently found and now love (I just bought a denim gilet from them too). Because the dress is so short, I’ve teamed it with some Nu Form bike shorts as well as some Paire socks and my go-to Salomon sneakers.
