8 Incu workers show us their favourite autumn outfit

WORDS BY MAGGIE ZHOU

“This is truly my dream outfit for a day on the go.”

If your For You Page is anything like mine, you’ve seen hordes of fashionable Incu staff strutting around stores in new pieces. One of the perks of working in retail is access to new pieces that land in-store. Somebody’s got to do the hard job of trying on new season Ganni and Acne Studios, right?

We went straight to the source and asked eight Incu workers from Sydney and Melbourne to show us the outfit that’s currently on high rotation. Read on to see how these workers style Maison Margiela, Studio Nicholson, Rohe and more for the cool weather that’s coming our way.

Natasha, she/her, Incu Galeries Women’s Footwear and Accessories Store Manager

Winter is creeping up on us here in Australia and winter fashion has always been my favourite. I love being able to layer clothing – and this outfit gives me the ability [to] transition from day to night. I’ve paired a simple pair of black trousers by Studio Nicholson along with an Acne Studios long sleeve vintage look t-shirt. Both [are] super comfy, I love the grungy distressed look that the t-shirt provides.

I’ve dressed the two up with a beautifully fabricated long black trench coat by Low Classic and a pair of edgy cowboy boots from Coperni; these two items really elevate this casual look. Lastly, I’ve finished off this style with a slight sporty edge using the Lemaire game soft bag made with nylon fabric which has a slight sky blue colour to it. I love how this gives the look a slight pop of colour!

I love the layering in this outfit. It’s got so many elements stacked on top of each other – the casualness of the denim skirt met with the elegance of the off-shoulder woollen top, all built on top of a sexy leather boot with a loud pointed toe. Chef’s kiss. I have always enjoyed adding a preppy twist to my outfits. Adding the white shirt as a base, paired with frilly stockings, elevates the look from something mature to something slightly quirkier and fun!

I love playing with just a simple classic look, but adding little details and prints to elevate a simple silhouette. Using a dress as a top is one of my favourite ways to create more shape and dimension with an outfit. This Acne Studios Etwina Mech Vinchy Dress over a tight pair of Rag and Bone Kinsely Chelsea flairs is a perfect example! The fun gingham print with the exaggerated pointed By Far Evelyn Nappa Leather Shoes makes it fun [and] dressy [while] still keeping it simple.

Instead of a small bag, I love opting for an oversized statement bag. This Maison Margiela Classic Japanese Handbag is one of my favourites at the moment. Overall, I like just having fun with what I wear, using pieces in different ways and not always in the way they were designed to be.

The boxy cut of the Incu Owen Blouson Jacket fits very [well] when styled with baggy pants that have their own structure. In this case, I have styled it with Studio Nicholson Sorte Pants to add more structure to the outfit. Then it was a question of casual or smart [styling]. In this case, I went with casual – hence the Nike trainers.

I’m a busy gal, so nine times out of 10, my go-to outfit is some combination of statement pants, layer[ed] pieces and comfy shoes. These Coperni Tailored Cargo Trousers are my absolute favourite because they have enough structure to remain crease-free throughout the day while still being extremely comfortable. The pockets are also a big plus to fit whatever random rotation of trinkets I’m carrying around.

Whether it be working or running errands, I always like to dress with layers to ensure I’m ready for anything throughout the day. The Our Legacy Cropped Exhale Puffer Vest and Acne Studios Denise Printed Top achieve that perfectly. Cold day? Nice and toasty! Too hot? I’d take the top off and wear the vest on its own buttoned all the way up. I’ve come to realise things are just a little easier when you dress in a flexible way.

To finish any outfit off, I always reach for a crossbody bag and chunky shoes. The Arcs Club Crossbody bag is timeless, simple and goes with just about everything. These JW Anderson Chelsea Boots are perfect for being on your feet all day. This is truly my dream outfit for a day on the go.

Ruby, she/her, Incu Galeries Visual Merchandiser

I love this outfit as it represents my personal style as well as a twist of Incu’s style that I’ve picked up along the way. I love a relaxed and comfy outfit that has a statement piece to go alongside it. I based the styling on the Beta Organic Shirt Dress for its versatility and uniqueness.

Yuheng (Moon), she/her, Incu QV casual sales assistant

This outfit is about approaching autumn with basic pieces [that are] timeless and classic. I‘m always focusing on creating a wardrobe of versatile, durable and comfortable pieces that can be mixed and matched. I choose essential pieces in neutral colours, like this Our Legacy top, [these] Rohe trousers and Gentle Monster sunglasses paired with this Marni bag and Dries Van Noten sandals.

Tom, he/him, Incu Galeries Men’s Manager and Ambassador

When choosing an outfit, I like to put a look together that can carry me from day to night with ease. I want to look smart yet relaxed and always functional while still expressing my character. Here, I’ve put together a neutral look with a pop of colour to break it up. The coat is from Mfpen, one of my favourite labels at the moment. [It’s] a Danish brand that nails the classic menswear look with a contemporary spin and [it has] fuller and more relaxed silhouettes which I am all about.

The cardigan is from Yoke, a Japanese brand that makes incredible garments. In particular, [its] knitwear is a standout. The pants are from Ader Error, a Korean brand – while seemingly simple, they have a large pleat that goes from top to bottom so they drape in such an interesting way and the colour literally goes with anything.

The loafers are from Vinny’s, again, another Danish brand. They do it like no other in the smart casual footwear space. Everything is so well considered and the quality, fit, comfort and price point are second to none. Plus, they are so easy to dress up or down.
