Eight Incu sales assistants show us their favourite winter outfit

WORDS BY FASHION JOURNAL

“In my opinion, an outfit isn’t fully complete without a bag.”

If your For You Page is anything like mine, you’ve seen hordes of fashionable Incu staff strutting around stores in new pieces. One of the perks of working in retail is access to new pieces that land in-store. Somebody’s got to do the hard job of trying on new season Ganni and Acne Studios, right?

We went straight to the source and asked eight Incu workers from Sydney and Melbourne to show us the outfit that’s currently on high rotation. Read on to see how these workers style Comme des Garçons, Lemaire, Dries Van Noten and more for the winter weather.

Yelena, Incu Pacific Fair Sales Assistant

I’m a big fan of winter style as it’s an excuse to have some fun with layering, but I’m also always on the go so the best winter fit to me is one that exudes comfort. I’ve styled the Sequence Drawstring Tailored black slacks with the Harvest Crew black knit and layered it over the top of a white button-down for extra warmth and a cute and preppy popped collar!

How cute are these Acne boots – I’m obsessed with the pointed-toe and baggy pant combo and the way it can add shape to elevate any outfit! Complemented by a couple of pops of colour to contrast the all-black vibe, an Acne scarf and Osoi bag add an extra level of winter chic and pull the entire look together, as any good accessory should.

Matt, Incu QV Sales Assistant

When I think of winter fashion, I don’t always go for a full-length pant or trousers. I more often than not find myself opting for a pair of baggy shorts even in the colder months if layered well. I chose to base my outfit around the Relanta Co Cargo Twill Shorts from Acne Studios for their edgy carpenter details, below-knee silhouette and earthy tones, which I find pushes these shorts into a transeasonal category.

When outfitting myself, I aim for a balance of complementary and contrasting colours, textures and silhouettes. With the Acne shorts being the base of my outfit, I chose to pair a multi-tonal moss green Acne scarf, warm brown leather Vinny’s loafers, a dark brown slouchy Lemaire bag and green shades from Port Tanger (the glasses I never leave the house without) to add depth to my outfit.

To complete my winter look, I chose the Vermont Crisp Wool Bomber Jacket by Dries Van Noten for its clean structured fit, slightly cropped length and solid black colouring which adds balance to my earth-tonal-dominated outfit. With long black socks and a layered Rohe white button-down shirt, this outfit, in my opinion, offers a ‘preppy street’ inspired winter look – a style I’m never shying away from.

Giordana, Incu Doncaster Sales Assistant

Getting dressed is my favourite part of every day – the chance to be creative and use clothes to express myself. I love that working with Incu allows and inspires me to do that. I love to incorporate a blend of past and present fashion. This blazer is a staple piece from my mum’s wardrobe when she was my age, the cut and design reflect that

I’m pairing it with a classic black mini skirt which is super versatile and timeless. Adding a spicy pop of colour with a red sock adds an element of fun and elevates the outfit. A pair of chunky black loafers are my go-to – so reliable but so chic. In my opinion, an outfit isn’t fully complete without a bag and this stunning Ganni bag is the perfect addition.

Ruby, Incu QV Visual Merchandiser

Being really comfortable and dressing how I feel on the day has become super important for me! I love this look as it showcases my passion for layering and the comfort I look for in an outfit. I’ve chosen pieces from Incu, Bode x Nike, Marni and Acne to reflect this.

Stephan, Incu Galeries Men’s Sales Assistant

Winter is coming and it’s the perfect time to layer up. For me, it’s the best season to bring out some nice pieces including some denim. This double denim fit is a mix of smart and casual. It’s such an adaptable fit for the climate, considering the breathable materials, and for the occasion – take the tie off, open up the shirt, untuck the shirt and you’ve got yourself a super ‘chill’ but elegant look.

I love being able to have classic pieces to play around with and the shoes always matter! In this instance, I have the Acne Studios Besare boots which add that elevated yet grungy look because of the distressed toe box. It’s the perfect fit for afternoon drinks leading up to a nice dinner.

Tom, Incu Galeries Cluster Manager

As much as I love warm weather, I’m always excited when the temperatures drop. Out come the layers along with more opportunities to play with pattern, tone and texture. Here I’ve gone for a look featuring all Japanese brands that share a similar aesthetic – classic, sophisticated and elevated with a certain ease and nonchalance. Exactly the way I like to dress.

The coat is from Auralee finished in a beautifully soft and lightweight wool, and the cardigan is from Comme des Garçons Homme and provides a nice contrast against the other tones in the outfit. I’ve paired this with a T-shirt also from Auralee. The pants are from a new brand Yaeca that we recently introduced to our brand roster and are quite literally the perfect fit. The shoes and bag are from Hender Scheme, a company that makes incredible leather goods.

Sarah, Incu Galeries Men’s Sales Assistant

As winter approaches, I decided to play with my love for denim by pairing the A.P.C. Cally Blouson Jacket and the Martin Jeans for a double denim outfit. It’s an effortless and classic look with a nod to the ’90s. I also opted for Hereu’s Nombela Loafers because I felt the brown and blue hues complemented each other and added a touch of sophistication.

The choice of the Lemaire Large Croissant Bag complements the overall colour palette beautifully. Mixing textures with the A.P.C. Abby Sweater (which is a personal favourite of mine) completes the look with a cozy yet polished vibe.

Brian, Incu Galeries Men’s Sales Assistant

Coming from London, the land of grey skies and grey buildings, I don’t think anyone does autumn/winter like Europe. So this is the inspiration for my outfit with French brands making up the bulk of my outfit (with a beret to top it off).

Starting from the bottom, nothing says classic French footwear like Paraboot. These in particular are from a collaboration with another French brand, Arpenteur. This is paired with a textured pair of beige canvas jeans from Kaptain Sunshine out of Japan. The jeans are a perfect update to your standard five-pocket jeans with just the right amount of room without getting too baggy.

Next is a striped chambray shirt from A.P.C., another French staple brand that perfectly channels grandpa-core in a more contemporary and refined fashion with their new relaxed fit. Covering that, we have the Arpenteur multi-pocket cardigan and atop that, the outfit is finished with a Yaeca overcoat which beautifully encapsulates contemporary design based on old-school wardrobe basics.
