Taking a stand.

In a landmark move, Los Angeles is taking steps to ban the sale of fur by 2020. Following the lead of San Francisco earlier this year, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously for the ban – making it the largest city in the US to do so.

A policy is expected to be drawn up in a month’s time, with the ban coming into action two years from when it is signed. It will apply to apparel, accessories and footwear, excluding leather or lambskin.

“This is L.A. taking a stand and saying we will no longer be complicit in the inhumane and vile fur trade that’s been going on for years,” city council member Bob Blumenfield said in a statement.
