The first trailer for the Dries Van Noten documentary has landed

A very personal insight.

As well as being celebrated for being one of the world’s most successful creatives, designer Dries Van Noten is also notorious for his intensely private personal life.

Cue Dries, the brand new documentary based on Van Noten’s 25-year-long career.

Produced by Reiner Holzemer, who followed Van Noten for a year, the film offers an intimate and rare glimpse into the Belgian designer’s life.

“It took me a very long time to convince Dries to share his passions, his creative and intimate world in front of a camera,” Holzemer says.

“I followed him for a whole year, and I think I came close to him and his world as it is possible. I hope the result is a very personal insight into his life and career.”

In its first preview, the trailer sees Van Noten backstage. And whether it’s briefing his team, cutting fabrics or showcasing his iconic runway collections, his talent certainly shines.

The film also features interviews with other industry icons including insight from Iris Apfel, whose own 2014 documentary also saw a huge success.

Though there’s no official release date, Dries is expected to debut later this year.

In the meantime, here are some other fashion documentaries to keep you inspired.
