Doing it for the ’gram.

If this isn’t everything that’s wrong with our society, I don’t know what is.

A study has found that one in 10 UK shoppers admits to buying clothes purely to take a photo for social media. The clothes are then returned, giving literal meaning to the hashtag #OOTD.

The study, commissioned by UK credit card company Barclaycard, surveyed 2,002 adults above the age of 18.

Interestingly, it found that consumers aged 35-44 were the most likely group to do this, with men outnumbering women.

Barclaycard attributes this trend to the introduction of ‘try before you buy’ policies, (or AfterPay) which allows shoppers to pay for items only once they’ve decided to keep them.
