Second Swim creates its swimsuits from recycled ocean plastic

Words by Fashion Journal

Turning the tide.

We know that there’s a lot of pollution going into our oceans, but we also know plenty of brands working to limit their own contributions to marine waste.

Second Swim is inspired by a deep love of the Great Barrier Reef, which led the label’s founder Rebecca to design swimwear collections around recycled materials.

Fibres from discarded fishing nets are combined with luxe Italian lycra to make bright, durable bikinis and one-pieces.

One of the label’s latest additions is the limited-edition Naples bikini top, which is made from cotton and features a retro-inspired crochet look.

As a further effort to help clean up water ways, Second Swim donates 10 per cent of profits from every purchase to The Ocean Cleanup.
