“Dancing along the line between everyday wear and activewear.”
Working in a creative role, it can be difficult to know how to dress for the day. Instead of having a set uniform of crisp white shirts and tailored black pants (as much as I love both), an ever-changing schedule means every morning requires a set of questions. Am I running around, or just sitting at my desk? Do I need to dress specifically for a project? And most importantly, will I be in the background of someone’s TikTok?

This week, Sharon Liu, Pilates instructor and founder of Club Ronny, takes us through her week in work outfits. Balancing her roles as a business owner, group Pilates instructor, one-on-one movement teacher and content creator, Sharon gravitates towards “textures and fabrics that hold shape and support movement”. Leaning towards high-quality investment items and pieces from local labels, her personal style is a playful mix of consignment store finds and great pre-loved gems.
“Spending so much time in-studio and on the move, I gravitate towards pieces that express my creativity while meeting the physicality of my work week and lifestyle,” Sharon says. “On colourful days, I feel most myself in a monochromatic outfit or contrasting tones. Layered form-fitting tops and a selection of wide-leg pants create a wardrobe that feels practical and versatile, dancing along the line between everyday wear and activewear.” Here, she takes us through a week in her work wardrobe.
Monday
As someone who is usually in some form of activewear or stretchy attire for work, I like to start my Mondays getting dressed to get administratively organised, AKA get shit done. Today I am finalising booking the venue space for my first upcoming Club Ronny series of Pilates classes in Fitzroy, building out my website and getting on top of emails. Here I am working from my partner’s backyard in Collingwood, right near a local favourite, Cibi.
Being a full-time Pilates teacher and having my own business is a seriously social job, so working in an incognito outfit and space helps minimise distractions to get important things organised at the start of the week. Working outdoors means staying comfortable from a crisp morning start through to the warm glow of the afternoon sun.
I’ve layered up in low-rise brown pinstripe Zara trousers that I bought in New York, Paloma Wool skivvy, Acne Studios scarf, OFR Paris cap, Prada loafers thrifted from Swop (my size, thank you thrift gods), my favourite black leather shearling coat that I found at a flea market in Paris and a black leather bag with a pearl chain, also thrifted from Swop. I call this look ‘Mr Worldwide’.
Tuesday
Tuesdays are a big teaching day. I start the day bright and early, ready for the 6am crew at Good Times Pilates in Brunswick and my all-time favourite 9.30am Power Moves legends. The studio is absolutely gorgeous so today, I’m also filming content before making my way over to my fortnightly Tuesday psych appointment and Inner Studio for a bit of R&R.
My day finishes with two regular private one-on-one Pilates clients that I adore at Club Ronny HQ, my home studio in Hawthorn. I’m wearing Lululemon Align tights, Move Active scrunch grip socks, Nike Vomeros, Muse the Label layered top, and a Samsoe Samsoe shirt jacket that I thrifted from Goodbyes and has since become a staple piece in my wardrobe.
My Telfar bag is another staple runaround bag that would rival Mary Poppins. I’ve fit everything in this bag, from tights to a spare pair of grip socks and a banana.
Wednesday
Wednesdays are a fun day. I spend mid-morning teaching at Good Times Pilates in Northcote and then make my way back to Club Ronny HQ. I received a gorgeous set from Vedomme this week, so I’ve spent the afternoon playing around with styling to capture movement content. I love how creative being in my studio space makes me feel.
I’m wearing a strapless knit top and green biker shorts gifted by Vedomme. With the cooler weather, I decided to style it with black stockings, knee-high boots that I got from Zara in New York and a classic white shirt from Baserange.
Thursday
Here I am in the car park out the back of Good Times Pilates in Fitzroy. On Thursdays, I spend mid-morning teaching here before jetting over to Cremorne to teach a corporate mat Pilates class in the afternoon and then back over to Club Ronny HQ to take regular private one-on-one Pilates clients.
Thursdays are another big teaching day that calls for active attire that I can move around in. I’m wearing Nagnata trackies, my trusty Moncler puffer layered over a black Arnsdorf long-sleeve and Asics sneakers. My Good Times Nalgene drink bottle is a must throughout the week to keep me hydrated, along with my cult-classic Telfar bag truly doing the most throughout my work week.
Friday
Fridays start early at 6am teaching in Fitzroy. After a big few days of teaching Pilates, I love to get out of activewear, usually into some form of denim and for the most part, straight into these Carhatt boyfriend jeans that I scored from the Carhatt store in Bordeaux, France.
Today I’m catching up with a friend for brunch after teaching in Fitzroy before meeting with my friend Rachael for one-on-one Pilates at Club Ronny and then a business mentoring hour of power together. I’m wearing my (practically uniform) Carhartt jeans, Ganni ballet flats, my favourite thrifted mohair knit from the Marais in Paris layered over a sky blue patterned Acne Studios skivvy and a pop of contrast colour with my orange Bottega Veneta cassette bag (to give old mate Telfar a rest).
