Simétrie designs accessories using kangaroo leather

Words by Tess Macallan

Keep it natural.

Style, sustainability, and fair working wages are at the forefront of Melbourne-based label Simétrie.

All items are handmade in the label’s Brunswick studio, where founder Simone works with a few contracted craftswomen to produce the range.

Their latest collection, The New Moon, draws inspiration from the lunar cycle.

The moon’s crescent shape is reimagined in bucket bag form, along with a wedge-shaped hip bag and new bag charms and card wallets.

The collection also includes the Universal Tote Pack, a bag that converts from tote to backpack and is perfect for carrying a laptop to work or uni.

Produced with sustainability in mind, Simétrie uses vegetable-tanned Australian wild kangaroo leather which breaks down faster than unnatural fibres.

The label has worked in collaboration with local homewares brand, Mosey Me, to create a screenprint for their handcrafted organic hemp canvas tote. Another eco-friendly fibre, hemp grows without the aid of chemicals and pesticides.

Manufactured with quality, Simétrie’s designs are made to last, with complimentary repairs available to customers.
