Lace, linen and serendipitous op shop finds.

Working in a creative role, it can be difficult to know how to dress for the day. Instead of having a set uniform of crisp white shirts and tailored black pants (as much as I love both), an ever-changing schedule means every morning requires a set of questions. Am I running around, or just sitting at my desk? Do I need to dress specifically for a project? And most importantly, will I be in the background of someone’s TikTok?

For ethereal Brisbane-born songstress Tessa Fleur, her week is any combination of recording, performing, shooting music videos and rehearsing with her band. Inspired by local creatives like Melbourne’s @k__eelz, Tessa’s aesthetic combines interesting layers with whimsical touches of lace, ribbon, ruffles and corsetry. Read on to see a week in her outfits.

My talented friend Rosie, the craftswoman behind Meanjin fashion label Rosaleen, crafted the enchanting ‘Datura’ outfit that added a witchy touch to my performance supporting Great Sage and Druid Fluids. It’s an honour to showcase her magical designs, featured not only in my latest music video [for] ‘Trial’ but also on stage during this memorable show.

Tuesday

Lately, I’ve been embracing the art of layering inspired by the visionary styling of @k__eelz on Instagram. Layering has been a game changer in getting more wear from my clothing items and making different looks. This outfit is an ode to @k__eelz and features a white linen top by Rosaleen, a Swop denim skirt and green woolly pants from Depop, all effortlessly paired with vintage cowboy booties.

Wednesday

Today I’m dabbling on the piano and rehearsing with my band at my university. I’m wearing a newly acquired black vintage corset sourced from Depop. I paired it casually with a basic white tee and wide-leg pants from a local brand called Dogstar.

I’m wearing the iconic Meanjin fashion label Bulley Bulley at my intimate EP show launch at the Junk Bar. This silky layered outfit gives me Vivienne Westwood-meets-Marie Antoinette vibes. The lace detailing, vibrant striped orange strings and the ethereal corset transport me to heaven.

Friday

In a serendipitous op shop moment, I discover my new dream outfit: a vintage daisy dress paired with white lacey pants, both treasures from my local thrift haven. Embracing wardrobe versatility, I occasionally transform the dress into a skirt. Today I went to take photos with my friend’s vintage camera.
