Recycle, repurpose, restyle.

Toyota recently teamed up with sustainable activewear label, First Base, to design a stylish and eco-conscious interior for its all-new Toyota Yaris Hybrid. The project, fittingly named ‘auto couture’, aims to inspire Australians to express their unique style and creativity not only through their clothes, but also their cars. This environmentally friendly and fashionable ‘car apparel’ is made of locally sourced, pre-loved textiles and designed by the brand’s founder, Alison Cotton, specifically with the Yaris Hybrid in mind.

With both brands shifting towards a strong sustainability focus, it’s a partnership that makes sense. As most Aussies know, sustainability has been a priority for Toyota since its foundation with its approach to sustainability grounded in the organisation’s guiding principles of continuous improvement and respect for people. As an independent brand First Base have been working towards sustainability since 2015. It uses three pillars as the guideline to design and create under – recycle, repurpose and restyle. Toyota has applied this same ethos to the Yaris interior.

Toyota is giving one lucky Fashion Journal reader the chance to win $500 to spend across the First Base range. All entrants will also receive an exclusive discount code to shop the sustainable label. To enter the giveaway, all you need to do is fill in the form below to be in the running.
