Game changer.

Following on from the release of Instagram’s ‘You’re All Caught Up’ feature, you will now be able to set limits on how much time you spend on Facebook and Instagram.

The new feature will include an activity dashboard, a daily reminder and a new way to limit your notifications.

In a press release, spokespeople from each app revealed the motive behind the new tools:

“We want the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram to be intentional, positive and inspiring. Our hope is that these tools give people more control over the time they spend on our platforms and also foster conversations between parents and teens about the online habits that are right for them.”

Users will be able to set a reminder once they’ve reached their personal limit for the day, as well as mute push notifications for set periods of time. An activity dashboard will also show know how much time on average is spent on the app per day.

It’s all in a bid to promote healthy online habits, and will potentially save hours of our lives from being wasted.

To access the new tools, head to ‘settings’ in each app – look for ‘Your Activity’ on Instagram, and ‘Your Time on Facebook’ on Facebook.
