‘Almost Famous’ is getting a musical and hold me closer, tiny dancer

From backstage to Broadway.

Following early 2000’s classics like Mean Girls and Legally Blonde, Almost Famous is joining the list of movies-turned-musicals.

That’s right, a musical adaptation of Cameron Crowe’s 2000 film is currently in the works.

An announcement was first made via Crowe’s Twitter, where he gave his followers a brief sneak peek of the upcoming project.

The musical will be directed by Jeremy Herrin, with music from composer Tom Kitt. We can probably expect a top-notch score reminiscent of the film’s original soundtrack, which featured the likes of Elton John, Led Zeppelin and Paul Simon.

While there’s no word yet on a premiere date (or even casting) we’re already bustin’ out the purple sunnies.
