Book review: Print Play

Words by Leah White

Calling all creatives.

If you’re interested in learning about screen printing, read on. If you don’t have an artistic bone in your body, perhaps tap out now.

While Print Play is a beginner’s guide to the art of screen printing, I’m unsure if my non-existent art skills would equip me to successfully follow even the simplest of these DIYs.

Once you’ve mastered the basics and assembled your screen printing kit (not going to lie, I did not make it past this step), the book takes you through the processes of single and multicolour stencil printing, registration printing and repeat pattern printing.

You’ll learn to print on paper, wood, corkboard, with metallic foil and even learn to print without a screen.

If nothing else, the images in this book are pleasing to look at. However, if you’ve got a knack for colour and design, Print Play could be the key to unlocking your inner artist.
